The fabric is so soft my daughter actually asks to wear it, which never happens with her other layers. It's light enough for cool mornings but still keeps her warm on the playground.

My toddler runs warm, so I was worried this would be too much for spring, but it's just the right weight for layering over a t-shirt. The fabric feels soft against his skin and it's washed up fine after a few rounds already.

The fabric is thin enough for summer evenings but still blocks the chill, which surprised me. My son wore it straight through a breezy picnic without complaining once.
